Week 11 of Region 9 football kicked off the first round of the state playoffs, and Mother Nature wasn't the only thing bringing the storm! Hurricane flexed its offensive firepower behind two explosive touchdown runs from Titian Borchardt, while Crimson Cliffs relied on its defense to survive a tough battle with Murray. Meanwhile, Snow Canyon delivered a thrilling fourth-quarter comeback against Sky View, as all three Region 9 teams punched their tickets to the next round!

This week’s Region 9 Rewind features highlights from around the region.
Crimson Cliffs vs Murray
Crimson Cliffs overcame an early interception and rainy conditions to secure a 17–10 victory over Murray. After falling behind 3–0, the Mustangs responded with a rushing touchdown from Ryder Tebbs, a touchdown pass from Tanoai Andreson to Noah Whitmore, and a field goal to take a 17–3 halftime lead. Murray battled back in the second half, cutting the deficit to seven and setting up a dramatic finish. With the Spartans threatening late in the fourth quarter, Houston Petersen forced a crucial fumble that the Mustangs recovered to seal the victory. Crimson Cliffs’ defense proved to be the difference, delivering key stops and stepping up when it mattered most.
Game Highlight: The biggest moment of the game came late in the fourth quarter when Crimson Cliffs’ defense stepped up to protect a seven-point lead. With Murray looking to mount a game-tying drive, the Mustangs brought the pressure and forced the Spartans’ quarterback out of the pocket. Houston Petersen delivered the game-changing play, knocking the ball loose and allowing Crimson Cliffs to recover the fumble. The turnover sealed the Mustangs’ 17–10 victory and capped off an impressive defensive performance.

Hurricane vs Park City
Hurricane delivered a dominant performance in a 45–7 victory over Park City, using explosive offensive plays and a relentless defense to take control of the game. Titian Borchardt set the tone early with a 75-yard touchdown run before adding another spectacular 48-yard touchdown on a reverse. Quarterback Kannon Cowan kept the momentum rolling with touchdown passes of 37 yards to Bradley Rose and 41 yards to Max Hutchings. The Tigers’ defense also joined the scoring party, recovering a loose ball in the end zone for a touchdown. After Park City briefly tied the game at seven, Hurricane took complete control and never looked back.
Game Highlight: Titian Borchardt stole the show in Hurricane’s 45–7 victory over Park City with two electrifying touchdown runs. He opened the scoring with a 75-yard burst down the right sideline, showing off his breakaway speed. Later, Borchard delivered another highlight-reel moment on a perfectly executed reverse, following his blockers before turning on the jets for a 48-yard touchdown. His explosive playmaking helped the Tigers take control and cruise to a dominant playoff victory.

Snow Canyon vs Sky View
Snow Canyon battled back from an early deficit to pull off a thrilling 16–13 comeback victory over Sky View. After the Bobcats jumped out to an early lead, the Warriors gained momentum with a defensive safety and a rushing touchdown from Parker Olson, followed by a two-point conversion to Isaiah Thompson. In the fourth quarter, Olson connected with Brody Lounsbury, who broke a tackle and found the end zone to give Snow Canyon the lead. With Sky View looking to tie the game late, a high snap led to a blocked field goal attempt by the Warriors’ defense. Snow Canyon then took a knee to seal the comeback victory and keep its playoff run alive.

Lounsbury broke a tackle and powered his way into the end zone to give Snow Canyon a 16–13 lead. The Warriors’ defense then sealed the comeback with a blocked field goal attempt late in the game.

Borchardt wasted no time making his presence felt, taking the handoff and exploding down the right sideline for a 75-yard touchdown run. His blazing speed left the Park City defense in the dust and set the tone for Hurricane's dominant 45–7 victory.
