Region 9 Rewind: Week 7 — Hurricane Pulls Away From Pine View in Second-Half Battle, Desert Hills Rolls Past Dixie

Week 7 of Region 9 football saw Desert Hills light up the scoreboard, as the Thunder’s offense exploded for 47 points in a big win over Dixie. Meanwhile, Crimson Cliffs made a statement of its own, taking down Snow Canyon 38–16 in another key Region 9 matchup.

Dixie Flyers vs Desert Hills Thunder
Deacon Virgin got Desert Hills on the board early with a handoff to Seth Brown for a 5-yard score, but Dixie answered right away when John Lamb recovered a Desert Hills fumble, setting up a Ryker Muhlstein to Gus Morby 17-yard touchdown. From there, Virgin took over, connecting with Brown again on a 14-yard scoring run and later finding Tagg Brinton and Brett Heiner for touchdowns to put Desert Hills firmly ahead. Dixie's Muhlstein tried to keep pace, breaking off two rushing touchdowns of his own, but it wasn't enough to overcome Desert Hills' balanced attack.
Game Highlight: The night's signature moment came when Virgin slipped a would-be sack and threw dime to Isaac Andresen who would make a incredible diving catch in the corner of the end zone, earning Jimmy John's Play of the Week.

[FEATURED GAME 2: Hurricane vs Pine View
Hurricane stayed unbeaten with a 38–21 win over Pine View, powered by a big night from Titan Borchardt and an explosive Tigers offense. Borchardt scored the game’s opening touchdown and later broke free for a 45-yard score, while Kannan Cowan connected with Carter Wardle for a long touchdown. Pine View answered early behind Coy Doman, who scored on the ground and threw a touchdown to Jax Carlsen, but Hurricane’s defense helped swing the game with a Wardle interception. Drake Gines added a late touchdown to put the game out of reach.
Game Highlight: Titan Borchardt delivered the game highlight, somehow staying on his feet after rolling over a Pine View tackler and finding the end zone. The incredible effort gave Hurricane the game’s first score and set the tone for the Tigers’ 38–21 win.
