This week’s Region 9 Rewind features highlights from around the region.
Hurricane vs Murray
Hurricane remained unbeaten with another dominant performance, taking down Murray at home. The Tigers’ defense set the tone with an interception by Bentley Fischer and continued to pressure the Spartans throughout the night, including a big sack from Dax Alley. Quarterback Kannon Cowan powered the offense with touchdown runs of 20 and 77 yards while also connecting with Carter Wardle on a spectacular diving touchdown catch. Hurricane pulled away for a 49-21 victory, improving to 3-0 on the season.

Pine View vs Campbell
James Campbell made the trip from Hawaii and jumped out to an early lead against Pine View in a physical, chippy matchup. The Panthers answered with an 80-yard touchdown connection from Coy Doman to Carter Buchanan, while Trey Leaupepe provided another spark with a forced fumble and recovery. However, Campbell’s defense helped break the game open with a pick-six and another key turnover as the Sabers built a deficit Pine View couldn’t overcome. Doman and the Panthers continued to battle, but Campbell pulled away for a 48-27 victory.
Game Highlight: Coy Doman delivered the biggest highlight of the night for Pine View, dropping back and finding Carter Buchanan downfield for an 80-yard touchdown.

PLAY OF THE WEEK
Presented by Jimmy John's
Kannon Cowan escaped the pocket and rolled to his left before firing a perfectly placed pass on the run toward the end zone. Carter Wardle went full extension, laying out to make a spectacular diving catch and securing the ball for the touchdown. The combination of Cowan’s throw on the move and Wardle’s diving grab earns Hurricane the Jimmy John’s Play of the Week.
Rewind that.
