Region 9 Rewind Week 2 three Region 9 Teams are still Perfect

Two weeks down, and three Region 9 teams are still perfect. Pine View pulled off a fourth-quarter comeback to snap Cedar's 14-game winning streak, Desert Hills continued its hot start under Tanner Balderree, and Hurricane rolled to another road win.

This week’s Region 9 Rewind features highlights from around the region.
Pine View vs Cedar
Pine View and Cedar battled back and forth all night, with the Reds eventually taking a 30–21 lead early in the fourth quarter. Coy Doman helped lead the Panthers' comeback, throwing four touchdowns and adding another on the ground. Pine View scored twice in the fourth quarter to erase the nine-point deficit and take a 34–30 lead. The Panthers' defense then came up big on Cedar’s final drive, with Tristan Dellos recording two sacks as the Reds threatened to retake the lead. Pine View forced an incompletion on the final play to complete the comeback and improve to 2–0.
Game Highlight: Coy Doman connected with Carter Buchanan for a 65-yard touchdown, answering Cedar’s opening score and getting the Panthers’ offense rolling.

Dixie vs Canyon View
Canyon View jumped out to an early lead with a Bryson Barnes pick-six and never trailed the rest of the night. The Falcons built a 28–6 halftime advantage behind touchdowns from Owen Williams, Camden Sheridan and Maleck Rigby. Dixie found some momentum in the third quarter as Riker Muhlestein threw back-to-back touchdown passes to cut the deficit to eight. Canyon View responded with two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach. The Flyers added one final touchdown pass to Porter Greer, but the Falcons ran out the clock and held on for the 41–26 victory.
Game Highlight: Riker Muhlestein escaped the pressure, scrambled around the pocket, and connected with Dane Dobler, who turned upfield and raced to the pylon for a 30-yard touchdown.

Snow Canyon vs Layton Christian
Layton Christian struck first and kept Snow Canyon’s offense off the scoreboard for much of the night. The Warriors showed flashes with big plays from Parker Olson, Chaz Hickman and Issaiah Thompson, while Kolby Lamoreaux came up with a big sack on defense. Brody Lounsbury finally broke through with a 92-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, but it was too little too late as Layton Christian defeated Snow Canyon 21–7.
Game Highlight: Brody Lounsbury provided the spark for Snow Canyon, taking a kickoff 92 yards to the house for the Warriors’ lone touchdown of the night.

AROUND REGION 9
And for the rest of Region 9, there were big road wins, undefeated starts and a few surprises as Week 2 delivered plenty more action.
Hurricane 49, Moapa Valley 20
Hurricane improved to 2–0 with a dominant 49–20 road win over Moapa Valley. Titan Borchardt led the ground attack with three rushing touchdowns, while Kannon Cowan added two touchdown passes to Parker Hurst. The Tigers took a 28–14 lead into halftime and never looked back.
Crimson Cliffs 31, Provo 13
Crimson Cliffs overcame a 13–7 halftime deficit by exploding for 24 unanswered points in the second half to defeat Provo 31–13. Quarterback Tanoai Andresen threw three touchdown passes as the Mustangs picked up their first win of the season.
Desert Hills 29, Timpanogos 13
Desert Hills improved to 2–0 with a 29–13 win over Timpanogos after overcoming an early deficit. Quarterback Deacon Virgin threw for 339 yards and two touchdowns, while the Thunder defense took control down the stretch to seal the victory.
PLAY OF THE WEEK

This week’s Jimmy John’s Play of the Week goes to Dixie quarterback Riker Muhlestein and Dane Dobler. Muhlestein escaped the pressure, kept the play alive and found Dobler, who turned upfield and raced toward the pylon. The 30-yard touchdown was a huge second-half play that helped spark the Flyers’ comeback attempt.
